FOSCI Management

Homicide Survivors

Losing a loved one through homicide is one of the most traumatic experiences that an individual can face; it is an event for which no one can adequately prepare, but which leaves in its wake tremendous emotional pain and upheaval.  Homicide or murder is defined as the “willful (non-negligent) killing of one human being by another.”
There are seven to ten close relatives not counting significant others, friends, neighbors, and co-workers for each victim.  Those left behind to mourn are called “homicide survivors” and no amount of justice, restitution, prayer or compassion will bring their loved one back.

FOSCI Mission and Objectives

FOSCI, touching the lives of families of homicide victims, provides an adaptive support system that encourages and enables the emotional and physical well-being of homicide survivors.

For over a decade, when a family encounters the loss of a loved one, FOSCI is often times the first call for help. FOSCI immediately employs strategic initiatives designed to give financial support, personal development, and long term recovery efforts to the homicide survivor. If FOSCI, cannot accommodate the homicide survivor, they will gracefully assist them in finding a resource who can.

FOSCI Goals

Sensitivity Awareness

We promote sensitivity awareness when contacting victims’ families.

Government Support

We encourage more support from state and local agencies in cases requiring care and /or adoption of children of the victim.

Referral Services

Knowing what to do in tragic situations is important to us. We provide legal referrals of cases involving surviving family members that are requested/required to provide care of the surviving victims’ children.

Partnerships

We identify and encourage support of other mental health services, financial assistance entities and other services needed for hurting families.
