After nearly 27 years, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children is trying to shed new light on an old case. In Dec. 1988, a little girl was found in a wooded area off Duncan Bridge Road in Ware County, Ga..

Beverly McClain is pleading for witnesses to come forward in the death of this child.
Investigators believe she was only 3 years old, and an updated sketch gives us new insight to what she may have looked like.
Beverly McClain is the founder of Families of Slain Children, Inc.. She said “Baby Doe” was beautiful girl after she saw the sketch released this week. “That sketch they have of her – beautiful. We don’t know who she would have been,” McClain said.

McClain, having lost a child herself, knows the pain of having more questions than answers. “That’s why her heart goes out to the family of “Jane Doe 1988,” McClain said. “It’s deep; trust me. That’s one journey I don’t wish on nobody.”

 

The southeast Georgia case comes on the heels of Bella Bond in the Boston area.
Her body was found on a beach and remained a mystery for months.
“Jane Doe 1988” had her black hair pulled back into a ponytail. She was wearing a diaper and had on clothing that resembled pajamas.

McClain prays people share what information they have.
“Someone knows about this baby,” McClain said. “Don’t go to your grave with it — talk about it.”
